The UVic Race Team is a group of almost 30 student sailors who register annually and compete in the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) as part of the Northwest division.
The UVic Race Team sailboats have brought together students from all levels of sailing backgrounds to train, travel, and race at regattas across the pacific coast. Traveling to at least five regattas per year, our boats have helped us compete with some of the highest-ranking sailing universities on the west coast and win multiple regattas. The club teaches lessons to share their passion for sailing with incoming students and our local community, and has recently expanded to service a JV Sailing team as well.
Our much-loved boats have served as successful racing equipment and have fulfilled the training needs of the club for a prolonged period of time. However, with travel, winter storms, continuous training and racing, these boats are no longer as competition-ready as they once were. Our next step is to begin renewing our fleet that has given almost 15 years of service. We are currently reaching out to alumni and the sailing community to help us replace six boats, which will cost approximately $70,000.
